BRAZIL.

As of Wednesday 30th, we have secured by written 3 meetings in Brazil:

Tuesday 06th at 10:00 am: Atlantica Empresa de Comercio Exterior Ltda.
Tuesday 06th at 2:00 pm: Nadir Figueiredo Ltda.
Wednesday 07th at 10:00 am: Coimex Ltda

Wednesday 07th at 2:00 pm: TSD Importadora e Exportadora (TBC).

All emails with confirmation in Portuguese and English were sent to you. Other two companies has show high interest but not confirmed yet (Duratex Comercial Exportadora and Brainfruit).

We are going to continue calling and following up by email until complete 8, or perhaps more depending on circumstance.

You should be awared of:

a) Sao Paulo is both, a state and a city. Some companies located in Sao Paulo state are far from the city of Sao Paulo. We consider that in a future trade mission some companies located out of the city of Sao Paulo could be considered. But a longer preparation is needed in this case.
b) As you know, many industrial plants export through a small office with a different name but they are owned by the same group of the manufacturing plant. In this case, we will let you know if some of the companies you will be visiting fall in this category.
c) Many companies currently exporting low volumes mentioned that they prefer to use Airplane rather than ships.
d) Many companies in the original list exported in the past to Canada/North America but not now, or their export has decreased in past years and their frequency is too low and not regular.
e) Many industrial plants producing in Brazil and "exporting" to US are actually headquartered in US. Thus, the making decision level about logistic is not in Brazil. At the end of the project we could provide you with that data. You could pursue those accounts here in Northamerica.

CHILEAN and ARGENTINEAN companies have been emailed. We started to call to Chile yesterday. So far, no confirmation has been made. However, we are confident to achieve the goals in those two cities.

Before meetings, we are going to post all the information we can gather about each company. By now we are focused in completing the meetings, writing the Doing Business reports and doing a second review of translation of presentations.

On Thursday evening a new report will be posted to Buen Día system.

a) Searching websites for getting the right data for contacting, including emails and phone numbers.
b) Filtering those companies to work just with those which are located in the area to be visited.
c) Contacting them for first time for providing general information about the port, advicing about the trade mission, and confirming their data contact.
d) Contacting for second time for specifying date of visit of Mr. Dixon and giving more information.
e) Preparing a report of companies who responded and/or read the email for calling them on Friday 25th, Monday 28th and Tuesday 28th (Brazil).

2.- Meetings for understanding and organizing the project with 6 employees, three of them dedicated full time to this project.

3.- Translation of key contents to Spanish and Portuguese. Setting up your account in our system.

4.- Problems found with the Brazil's Prospects spreadsheet:

4.1.- A number of records has wrong address. We had to confirm all the records in order to assure the work.
4.2.- 108 companies in Brazil. 3 repeated, then actually are 105. 9 were impossible to found information about. Then we are working with 96.
4.3.- Some data is not accurate. For example PACIFICO SUL appear in the spreadsheet as Food Exporter but they are a Textiles Producer.
4.4.- 1 company is headquartered in Singapur and another one in Chile.

Next report will be posted next Wednesday 30th. It is foreseen that some meetings in Brazil will be coordinated for that date but not all. As planned, we are going to confirm their interest, coordinate schedules, and provide you with advisory online during and before the mission.
